I think the show runners executed a stroke of genius to try and save Margnum for another season or more. It was too late for Higgins and Margnum to have an extended romance before the end of this season so by putting them into a committed relationship - al be it contrived - may take the show off of life support. The possibilities are numerous for an evolving relationship while solving crimes next year. This particular episode was also intriguing in that the reason for the crime was unclear or who committed it and why . In reading Johnny Wests review - his dissection of a fun show was ridiculous - if you look for reasons not to like a show you will always finds them - if you want to be entertained you don't review every show on the planet. I assume he is a professional critic and gets paid to find something wrong.

Marriage & Immigration Fraud

The original Magnum PI outwitted the criminals. The new Magnum is constantly doing illegal things and expecting that Detective Katsumoto will let him slide or cover for Magnum. Higgins (Perdita Weeks), and Katsumoto (Tim Kang) are good actors, and they make the stories better. Jay Hernandez lacks the wit and charisma of Tom Selleck.
Juliet Higgins has a passport problem again. Last year she had the same problem, and she had to go back to the United Kingdom to sort it out. In the real world, people that work for billionaires like Robin Masters get their immigration papers done right the first time.
Higgins is concerned that she will not be allowed back into the U.S.A. Magnum comes up with a solution, which is a fraudulent marriage, so she can get the immigration green card. Lie to Homeland Security. Get a fraudulent immigration visa. No love, and no romance. Kind of sad and illegal.
Perhaps Higgins and Magnum will fall in love while pretending to be married? The original Magnum was always about personal integrity, especially when it came to relationships. The original Magnum was honest, and had character.

There is no kind of chemistry between Magnum and Juliett. I cannot imagine him going for her. She is highly intelligent but not the type of person I would imagine Magnum would go for she is not got got the magnatism for him.
