After being extremely impressed by writer/director Brian Lonano's short,I rushed to the next short title in the Soho Film Festival line-up,leading to me seeing a itsy bitsy spider climb into the room.

View on the film:

Untangling the web of raw emotions webbed around Chris, (played by a great distraught Fletcher Donovan) co-writer/(with Rudy Thauberger) director Brodi-Jo Scalise & cinematographer Jeff Zwicker run across each line with excellent tracking shots scanning the chillingly isolated, silent apartment that Chris has been left on his own in.

Leaving Chris in his boyfriend's flat with only a large spider as company, the screenplay by Scalise and Thauberger dissect a psychological torment, that like the movements of a spider, chillingly stops/starts as each layer of abusive, isolating Horror gets peeled open by the itsy bitsy spider.

Chris and Jacob

I like it was the first expression after the final credits. For the end, no doubts. For the images of floor , as frame of web. For Fletcher Donovan fresh acting. For appartment and music. For the white T-shirt and lether jacket. And for the construction of story, puzzle of suggestions, more a psychological film than a horror, you feel, step by step, the torment of Chris front to the attitude, almost paternal, of Jacob.

A well crafted film, seductive for fair portrait of toxic relation traits explored. And, sure, for spider.
