The plot was a little far fetched but the story once you got into it tracked well and they tied up any loose ends. Better than many Lifetime movies. Cathy Moriarty was a little over the top playing to a supporting cast as Momma which were many unknowns..

Overall the movie is not bad but I feel really bad about the guy that met the teen at the party and just wanted a chance to get to know her. He helps her fix her car..gets talked ugly to by mom after helping, gets accused of hurting her.. then gets killed volunteering to help find her and trying to help her escape.. all from meeting her 1 time. Ridiculous
Pleasantly surprised at how good it is

Don't listen to the other reviews saying this is a bad movie. It's one of those rare GOOD Lifetime flicks. It would've been even better with someone else playing Jenny's mother, since any one of my livingroom lamps can act better and show more emotion than Laurie Fortier (if that's her name?).
The story was unique and well done - my favorite genre: psychological thriller. Cathy Moriarty was excellent, as was Sam Meader, who I'd never heard of before but he practically stole the spotlight. The younger brother played by Joey Luthman was very good also - being torn between staying miserable but loyal to his family or breaking away from them and their criminal ways.
And as with all Lifetime movies, there has to be at least one good, caring character that gets killed off, unfortunately; in this case proving yet again that no good deed goes unpunished. But I rarely cringe when it happens in most of the other movies like I did this one.
Lastly, it's very interesting/intriguing that it was "inspired by a true story" as it said in the very beginning..

Ambulance Chasers

"Into the Arms of Danger" was an unpleasant and flawed film. The conceit of the film is that of case studies of two helicopter mothers, one a study in good and the other in evil.
Laurie "Lifetime" Fortier, one of our favorite actresses, plays the good mom. Fortier's character of Laura Monroe is overprotective yet still deeply devoted to the well-being of her daughter Jenny. By contrast, the evil smother mother known only as "Momma" is a psychopath who has murdered her own daughter, then co-opts her two spineless sons to impersonate medical staff, drive an ambulance to a woman in distress, and kidnap her to be held hostage as the surrogate daughter for Momma.
The film was so dismal that the most likeable character, Drake, a musician who befriends Jenny and assists in her rescue, is brutally murdered by Momma's sadistic son Clyde. The quick-thinking Drake used his audio technology to learn that a train passed close by the home where Jenny was held captive. When he locates the home, Drake makes the mistake of trying to free Jenny on his own, and he pays the ultimate price.
When Jenny was finally freed, a major lapse in the screenplay was in the failure of either Jenny or Laura to be curious about the whereabouts of Drake. Not only does his character die in the film, but he does not even get a passing posthumous thought from the young woman he admired.
The film struggled to depict the contrast of a "troubled home" versus a "loving environment" for the respective kids. It was obvious that Laura was a great mom and Momma was a sick smother-mother.
When young Jenny begins her studies at Wildwood Park College, it is likely that her declared major will be deviant psychology. After all, she already has an event that would be the basis for her senior project.

Very Good for a Lifetime Movie

Please note that my review is judging this film in the context of Lifetime movies, not movies in general (otherwise it would receive around a 3). If you enjoy cheesy Lifetime movies or are just looking for something entertaining to pass the time, this is a good choice. The premise (a young girl is kidnapped and taken to the home of an insane woman who misses her daughter) is definitely interesting. The acting isn't the best, but the plot is captivating enough and contains some pretty mature themes that makes this film stand out from other, more generic Lifetime movies.
Into the recycle bin.

My quick rating - 3,2/10. If the Lifetime channel wanted to get a bit darker than their normal stuff, they would've gotten this. Only their actors are typically better. After a woman is in a car accident on the way to visit some college, she is picked up by an ambulance and instead of a hospital, she is taken to the home of a twisted family led by Momma (Cathy Moriarty) There is really nothing here you haven't seen before in the old kidnap woman and keep her captive story. The family isn't insane in any manner such as Rob Zombie would give us. More or less the standard one son blindly following the mom, the other reluctantly following. Everything here falls right into place as you would expect and doesn't make for great viewing.
Worth watching, great cast, Momma & Clyde shine.

On a flyer, I watched this movie on LMN and was so pleasantly surprised that I felt the need to give it an (almost) ten-star review. If the storyline weren't so far-fetched, it would have gained all five stars from me.
Where the film triumphed, however, was the great cast of actors. Cathy Moriarty was fantastic as the deranged mother - a role I hadn't seen her play before - and AlexAnn Hopkins was equally a delightful heroin.
The standout for me was the role of Clyde, played by Sam Meader. He gave such a solidly chilling performance as the bad guy that he almost had me rooting for him. An actor I hadn't come across before, I look forward to seeing him in future movies.
Overall, a fun film if you don't take it too seriously - worth the watch!

Good movie overall. However, if ever u go looking for a missing loved one and u happen to find the place they are being held, it might NOT be a good idea to break into said place and attempt a rescue. It may be better to get outta there and call the cops!
So fun and Clyde (Sam Meader) was the BEST bad guy!!

Loved this movie! The plot was a little predictable at times, but the cast carried it so well that I really enjoyed those 'expected' horror moments. My favorite character was Clyde - he was so hot and scary as the bad guy!! Sam Meader can kidnap me any day.

A Great Film!

"Into The Arms of Danger" is without a doubt one of the most creative Lifetime dramas I've watched. The story is compelling, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film. The cast - especially Cathy, who played Momma - did an amazing job. The art of a truly good film is that it's supposed to put you in the zone, allowing you to absorb the emotions of the characters, and the director and writer did a good job with it. I genuinely felt for Momma and her clearly-brainwashed children, but on the other hand, I also felt very strongly for Jenny, who was clearly the victim. Momma clearly has her demons, but there were moments I saw what potential she had, if she'd gotten the help she needed and deserved. Anyway, the movie hit all my sweet spots and I genuinely enjoyed this watch over many other films because the storty has substance and isn't one of those overly-cliche Lifetime flicks, it's actually very interesting in its depth, but very entertaining as well.

Sanity is not like Alzheimer. It doesn't come and go. The mom can't know she killed her kid and then think that other people are her daughter. The whole movie she is showing that she knows it is not her and then going back to playing that she is. It is dumb and shouldn't have been written like that.
Other than that and the boyfriend finding the house and then not texting the mom or calling police were the major dumb things in the movie. A lot less dumb things than in a normal Lifetime movie.
the only other thing i am tired of, when ya hit the guy and knock him out. Don't run away keep hitting him until he is dead. These movies being a little more realistic would be nice.
