GOLONDAAJ - I went to watch first day first show due to high expectations but I am little bit disappointed. Screenplay is on a slower side. Movie could be easily trimmed by 20 mins. Movie has been stretched unnecessarily. Some silly scenes made serious situation look unintentionally funny which is not good for any movie. As far as acting is concerned only the foreign villain and Anirban was good. Overall GOLONDAAJ is a one time watch and below expectations.

Average movie

Golondaaj movie is very average movie. This film have story but screenplay is not up to the mark. Screenplay is very average. Zero entertainment. Dev performance is good but the main theme of the film is the story of the film which is not in this film. Just one time watchable movie.
Good Movie 🖤

Golondaaj is just what the ailing Bengali movie industry needed to get back on its feet in these trying times. It is not a masterpiece by any yardstick, but it gets the job done nicely and makes you root and clap for the underdogs as they beat the tyrants in their own game. Really, what else do you need?
While the screenplay is nothing extraordinary, Dhruba Banerjee's crisp direction keeps things taut and breezy for the most part. At 150 minutes the film feels a bit stretched with too many slo-mo shots. But there is a lot to admire in Golondaaj. The film looks grand, has a rousing score (kudos to Pandit Bickram Ghosh) that elevates the key scenes beautifully. Even though the staging of the song Vande Mataram is a bit over the top, I'll be lying if I say that the song did not give me goosebumps. And while the usual sports movie tropes are there, the climactic David vs Goliath battle will leave you overwhelmed.
Because of its scale and grandeur, a film like Golondaaj needed a superstar like Dev. He is still not the best actor around, but he throws himself completely into the part and sincerely tries his best. The result is a dedicated, earnest performance that the actor can show off proudly. Anirban Bhattacharya gets a cracker of a introduction but is there only in bits and pieces. While he still manages to leave his mark, the inner Anirban fan in me wished he had something more to do. Ishaa M. Saha looks ethereal, but has precious little to do. Alexx O'Nell as Captain Jackson is first rate, as is Indrasish Roy as Jitendra. All the other actors are good in their respective roles.
Overall Golondaaj is the perfect Pujo blockbuster. It is an enjoyable, immersive theatrical experience that exceeded my expectations by flying colours. A fitting tribute to the legendary Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari- Golondaaj deserves a watch in the big screen. Strongly recommended.

Totally disappointing

Expectations built up quite high but after watching the film totally disappointed, lack of research work, slow untidy screenplay, poor editing and coloring, music was brilliant, average acting skills, poor expressions, its look like every one is trying to act except that foreign villain, so poor executions all around. Pathetic, great opportunity lost due to proper practice.
One of the finest films made in bengali cinema.
asmitadhikari-2119811 October 2021
One of the finest films made in bengali cinema in the recent years. The performance of the actors, the music, the direction, dialogues everything was good about the film. Anirban bhattacharya and ishaa we're so good in their roles. Alexx o nell played the best villain. And coming to dev, he is the heart of the film. His acting skills, dialogue have reached a different level. Dhrubo banarjee have given a wonderful direction. Special mention to bickram for the soul full musics. Overall a perfect mass+class film. Everyone should watch it in the movie theaters. ❤❤

This kind of movie never happened previously in the Bengali industry.
Climax of the movie was extremely good.
Dev is just extraordinary in this movie. One of the best film in his career. This kind of movie should be made more in this industry.
Rest of the actors are also very good.
Please go and watch Golondaz.

Brave attempt with bad execution
mukherjeeari19 October 2021
Attempt no doubt is good, but failed to execute or failed to reach the top level mark. Weak and boring screenplay, some scenes makes confusions all over, truly expectations were high, but after watching the film became sad, brave attempt but lack of proper planning, rehearsal. Heart Broken.
Best Piece of Dev

Overrated, too much dramatic

Warning: Spoilers
Ok, so let's get it clear- The movie with the cast could be way much better, but the director failed. Dev, as usual, demonstrated his weaknesses in Dialogue projections. Anirban, stole the show whenever he appeared inthe screen. The role of Dev's wife was underrated, could easily be withdrawn, she didn't have enough screen time except some songs. The struggles of Bengali Footballers could be shown more, but the director wasted time in unnecessary melodramas and "dialogue-baji"s. I expected more, but am dissapointed.
Must watch!!!!

One of the finest historical drama ever made! Don't miss it
netajibosethesudip12 October 2021
Yes!! This film is one of the finest historical drama.. it's a great tribute to Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari... The father of Indian Football.. Yes the screenplay could be better, I agree.. but the acting given by each actor deserve appreciation... And the sound track... That is too good... And off course the content, the story... That is the best part... And it's a kind of film u can go and enjoy with your friends as well as family! This kind of film is a historical lesson to all , and that is being presented as such a entertainment! Don't miss it! It's a must-watch film!!
Great Comedy Movie
adamitde15 October 2021
I have never seen a movie like this in long time. Everyone is overacting in this movie making it hilarious. I went to watch it after seeing good reviews. Either all reviewer are Dev fan or all of them haven't seen good movie. If you want to watch comedy over real story then watch.
Golondaaj, Dev

Warning: Spoilers
How's the story in the picture? From an early age, Nagendra's (Dev's) meditation was football. He was the first Indian to set foot in football. He formed about 12/13 clubs. In 180 Nagendra formed the Wellington Club. But the 'Native Indians' had no place in the British game. Nagendra's promise was to defeat the British in the game. Nagendra started the 'Wellington' club in association with 'Friends', 'Boys' and 'Presidency' clubs, but for some reason it broke up. Durand Cup is not played. Later, Nagendra, along with Raja Ananda krishna Dev and other powerful people, formed the Shobha bazar Club. And dreams of playing in the 'Trades Cup' final. Where his main opponent is Major Jackson's team. The stage of Nagendra s team formation has come up nicely in the film. Football is a team game. Nagendra can show the direction, victory does not come in a single fight! People from all walks of life took place in his group. Going beyond the caste-religion division, Nagendra prasad dream XI was created.........❤
Disappointed
chatterjeesmita19 October 2021
The way production company creates buzz there is a high expectations but the end product is disappointing, in one word directorial failure, not up to the mark. The big opportunity lost. Missing the excitement, tension throughout the film, poor editing, lack of tidiness, seems to look tired efforts.
Brilliantly made film!

Fool are the ones who compare Golondaaj with Lagaan. Give the bengali directors 100 crores & they'll do wonders. Golondaaj is a must watch. Brilliant performance by the entire team. Music is top notch. Hat's off Dhruba Banerjee.
