The Green Knight director David Lowery is joining the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew team as a featured filmmaker on the series. While production for the series wrapped a few months ago, details about who contributes to the show are starting to make the rounds. A complete list of contributors is forthcoming, but One Take News says Lowery is involved.
Earlier this month, the Everything Everywhere All At Once filmmaking duo, The Daniels, were revealed to have helmed an episode of the upcoming series. Oddly, the news about their contribution to the series was ill-received by fans, with many saying the Oscar-winning duo had sold out.
Daniel Kwan took to his Instagram Story (via Entertainment Weekly) to address the backlash and explained that they’re only directing one episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. “Lol, all of the people @ing us about getting sucked up by the ‘corporate machine’ can chill.

The crew for one of Star Wars‘ upcoming series continues to fill out. Green Knight filmmaker David Lowery is among the directors of Skeleton Crew, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The series wrapped production in recent months. However, news of who directed is just now coming out, with more expected to be revealed later. Earlier this month, word broke that Everything Everywhere All at Once filmmakers Daniels had directed an episode last year. One Take News first reported the news of Lowery’s involvement. Lucasfilm could not be reached for comment.
Skeleton Crew stars Jude Law and is from Jon Watts, the filmmaker behind Tom Holland’s recent trilogy of Spider-Man films. It centers on a group of kids lost in the galaxy, trying to find their way home. The series is executive produced by The Mandalorian masterminds Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. It is set in the New Republic era of Star Wars storytelling.

Any good movie about a pop star needs some actual business experts on its crew. Good thing David Lowery has enlisted Charli Xcx and Jack Antonoff to write and produce the original soundtrack to Mother Mary, the filmmaker’s upcoming A24 feature.
Mother Mary will star Anne Hathaway and I May Destroy You wiz Michaela Coel as a fictional musician and fashion designer, respectively. A press release describes it as an “epic pop melodrama” that follows the “relationship” between the pair. Will that relationship be platonic? Business? Romantic? All three? Who knows?
This is neither Antonoff nor Charli’s first rodeo when it comes to film soundtracks: Antonoff has produced a handful of tracks specifically for movies over the last decade, notably last year’s star-studded Minions: The Rise of Gru Ost. Charli, meanwhile, did the original single “Hot Girl” for the slasher comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, also an A24 flick.

Eddie Redmayne is set to executive produce and star in Sky and Peacock’s new television series “The Day of the Jackal.”
The series, which is based on the seminal Frederick Forsyth thriller and subsequent award-winning 1973 film adaptation of the same name from Universal Pictures, will see the Academy, Tony and BAFTA award-winning actor take on the lead role of the Jackal.
According to Peacock and Sky, the series, which will begin production later this year, is a “bold, modern reimagining of the beloved and respected novel and film.”
“While staying true to the DNA of the original story, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the chameleon like ‘anti-hero’ at the heart of the story in a high octane, cinematic, globetrotting ‘cat and mouse’ thriller, set amidst the turbulent geo-political landscape of our time,” the companies said in a news release.

I talked about this in my write-up for “Peter Pan & Wendy,” the upcoming live-action remake from Disney, but David Lowery is the King of the “one for them, one for me” creative model. Almost like clockwork, the filmmaker will follow up an indie film with a big-budget film before coming back to another indie drama. A couple of years ago, we saw him release “The Green Knight,” which is being followed up by “Peter Pan & Wendy.” And as we could have predicted, after he’s done playing with Disney, he’s going back to his indie playground with a new film from A24 titled “Mother Mary.”

If I were a decade and a half younger, I'd probably say something along the lines of filmmaker David Lowery having all hits and absolutely no misses throughout his brilliant directing career to this point. But because I'm not and my job ostensibly requires that I find a semi-intelligent way of stringing words together to make insightful points, I'll just point out that between 2016's "Pete's Dragon", the soulful and meditative "A Ghost Story," the tragically underseen "The Old Man & the Gun," and especially 2021's Dev Patel-starring adaptation of "The Green Knight," Lowery has rapidly curated one of the most surprising and sneakily interesting filmographies out there.
Today, we're getting word of his next move and, well, this has the makings of becoming another must-watch, too.

On March 6, 1970, The Beatles released “Let It Be” as a single. It was the group’s final single before Paul McCartney announced his departure. Here’s what Paul had to say about the hit in his book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present.

In The Lyrics, Paul said that the context in which he wrote The Beatles’ “Let It Be” was “one of stress.” It was a difficult and tense time for The Beatles, who were heading toward breaking up. Suddenly, there was a lot of change, and no one wanted to work together.
John Lennon constantly wanted to be with Yoko Ono. George Harrison wanted to move to India and live like a yogi. Paul wanted to get back to the group’s roots, hoping it’d save them from breaking up.
