This is a decent enough episode, but something about it confused me. I assumed that this show occurred at approximately the same time as the current season of Riverdale. However, Kevin Keller guest stars in this episode and he mentions going to college and then coming back to Riverdale High to teach the acting class. In the current season of Riverdale, Kevin is still a high school student. So, I guess Katy Keene takes place a few years after Riverdale?

Yeah, who needs timeline, or any kind of consistency

So, I've spent like a month trying to make any sense of the Riverdale Timeline, and up till this point it was ... kinda ok, even if jumbled.

The first 2 episodes of Katy K can fit after the thanksgiving episode of Riverdale (s04e07). Episodes 3-8.shows the date here-and-there, and give out other clues. These episodes play during february to early march of 2020 (should be 2019, but we must be fluid with that, the crew is very bad at details), and fit bbetween s04e12 and e13 of Riverdale, where is a bit of a month timejump.

Now Katy's episode 9 definitely happens a bit later, but not much, because of the New Pussycats arranged by the rich guy. So that can happen right after the big reveal of season 4 of Riverdale.

Logicaly, This episode (KKs01e10) should not have a large gap after the previous episode, given Josie still did not write new songs for the new band, neither is the band anywhere yet from accomplishing anything. On the other hand, Kevin definitely did collage and now is a teacher.

Above all this mess, there is the problem of the new Cats being so uptight. Based on what? They have no career, and the activist-girl has no other source of income either, the prime reason she was willing to sell out for The Industry the first place!

I'm glad this show got cancelled, but beat me how Riverdale keeps running Such bad writing!
