The singing is very nice. The "comedy" is awful. The laugh track horrible. Lose the elf and the control room shots. gave it a 6 for the singing. so much potential so much fail.

Amazing Special!

I loved this so much

I don't know how they did it, was there actually two floors? Seemed like parts were live, and other parts weren't, and it's so tongue and cheek with the way it's produced. Amazing special. Kacey is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists.

Uninspired singing...bad writing...lame acting...and those are the good points!

This is likely the worst Christmas special I have ever seen. It's such a train wreck you almost want to watch for the next cringe-worthy moment. Kind of like "Plan 9 from Outer Space".
The rating on here is absurd. Given the show was made by Amazon & IMDB is owned by Amazon, I can only assume the rating is artificially inflated by Amazon bots.
On top of it all, Kacey looks 100% plastic...which I guess fits the rest of the show.
Insipid.

The New "Cher"?
brandoncherrymail27 December 2019
Dare I say, "The new Cher?" Don't hate me, but I saw a huge resemblance to Cher what with all the wardrobe choices and the long straightened black hair. The music obviously was not at all like Cher, but classic Kacey. I enjoyed the whole thing. The comedic scenes where great! I don't care how cheesy it was, it was great. The haters can move on already with the bad reviews. And Dan was hilarious!
Underwhelmed

Warning: Spoilers
There were a lot of talented people in the show. Too bad the script didn't make better use of them. The initial song with James Corden & Kasey is so corny & predictable (the snow keeps bursting through the French doors every time they sing "let it snow" - wow, now that's funny - NOT) that I am really surprised that they pull the same trick out again not very much later when every time Kasey & another guest star start to sing Silent Night, a carpenter starts a new noisy project. (HA HA)
The idea of repeatedly showing the "behind the scenes" working of the show doesn't add much; it's not exactly bad, but why do it when it seems to do nothing positive for the show?
I like Dan Levy and he was amusing as the narrator. Of course there were Christmas carols and lots of nice voices, which was to be expected. I particularly enjoyed Zoey Deschanel because she was just so darned cute singing the Hawaiian Christmas song - which ended with an adorable tiny puppy.
A real downer: some of Kacey's outfits were just plain unattractive or weird for a young, pretty woman like Kacey.

This is just plain bizarre. Retro--with a laugh track, shiny miniskirts, plastic snow and a puppy. I'm watching for Dan Levy. (It's a gift to have the ability to fast forward. Which I will employ now that she's singing Mele Kalikimaka.) Yikes.
Ok for background noise/Christmas ambience
soulestektf8 December 2020
Unfunny skits, stiff acting and an obvious laugh track makes this feel like its meant for tweens and teenagers. However, decent music if you want some covid Christmas cheer in the house for some background noise. Just don't expect much more than that.
Tacky

Really? Slutty outfits, tacky storyline, nothing "family orientated" about this...kinda scary there are people who liked this. Mainstream at its worst..but then again I was hoping for a Christ-mas show..as in honoring more than presents and a bunch of ho-ho-ho's. But what can really expect from anti-Christian producers like these.
Enjoyed the scenery but...

...other than good background singers, dancers, and the Rockettes, all-in-all a waste of time.
There were one or two nice duets with guests. They trashed Silent Night...but of course...Fred Armisen would enjoy that.
What a joke!

This Christmas "Special" is anything but
bycyqcbts12 December 2022
Terrible. Awful. I can confidently say that I have never seen a worse Christmas special.
Kacey Musgraves has a great voice, but the song selection was so depressing, and the famous, uplifting songs she did incorporate were made unbearable by including some ridiculous, unnecessary schtick. For instance, constantly opening windows during "let it snow" every ten seconds or a handyman interrupting "Silent Night" by sawing constantly through it.
It might be tempting to try this Christmas special, but seriously, skip it. The only thing more annoying than the fake laugh track is Kacey Musgraves's attempt at acting. I sincerely hope she doesn't ever make another one.
