ANY rating above a 1 HAS to be involved with the production. There is no way to review this, it is complete inept garbage. The ONLY thing it has going for it is that it ia unintentionally hilarious.

TV movie

This movie is filmed like a cheap TV movie that is so unbelievably stupid it surprised me that any executive decides to commission it. The photography especially during the murder scenes are amateurish; one could be mistaken for being shot by a colleague student. The murderer is so cartoon-ised in that Killer does his best "ghost face's" impression & he is caricature of ott psychopath.

A reporter whose articles inadvertently lead to murder. Can she figure out who the killer is before she becomes the next victim? Do we care to find out?

If I have the option i will give it a -10 (Minus 10) this is the worst Movie I have ever seen. The 7.3 Rating is PHISHING. Even a Kid can make a better Video from his Mobile than this one.

Americanized giallo

A reporter finds her life in danger when the story she has published results in several murders that come closer to her. That seems like a simple start, but the truth is, I was continually surprised by this horror film, as every time that I thought it would be a typical direct to streaming affair, it showed some aspiration or threw in a winking nod to the past.

Director Gregory Hatanaka has worked on several films that you can find streaming. Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance would probably be the best known.

I thought that this was going to be a straight-up slasher, but was shocked to see plenty of giallo influence in the kills, the lighting and even in the push in pauses that the film uses to dramatic editing effect. There's even a scene where two of the characters watch a Hong Kong movie - I think it's Master of the Flying Guillotine - that made me smile.

While most direct to streaming affairs feel filmed on an iPhone, this movie aspires to be much more. Plus, Lisa London is in this, who you may recognize as Rocky from Savage Beach. I always like to point out an Andy Sidaris reference.

Potentional

Wish they had made this into a tv series, it was too short for me. Nicole D'Angelo is an absolute beauty and a very talented actresses so this is worthy of a rent for me. Good drama and story.

Solid indie film

The film is basically about a reporter who publishes her story which then in turn comes with some heavy consequences. The movie has it's ups and downs as you would expect in a indie movie but it was highly entertaining and produced pretty well considering their budget. Anybody rating this lower then a 6 is a hater and has never made a film.

Gregory Hatanaka has built a real cult following from the type of films he's makes so I'm not surprised by the mixed reviews on here. Regardless of what anyone thinks - It's a good suspenseful film with plenty of twists and turns. Give it a go and you might be impressed by this gem of a film.

Murder Mystery

If your fan of murder mysteries then this is one you need to watch. A reporter finds herself in danger when a story she published leads to murders. Could she be next? Clever storyline and good acting. The film did have me guessing at times as to what would happen next and the ending was great also.

It was an interesting film with a thrilling story. Love the way it was edited and the film had good momentum and many surprises. What it might have lacked that many are mad about might be the acting but I do know this was a indie film so look past it and you'll for sure enjoy it.

Stream worthy

I rented it and it was entertaining. I thought the film had good parts and bad parts but mostly good. The acting and the story had me on edge and though it felt a bit rushed at moments it's still a nice weekend movie. It's a watch from me!

Not so bad

The film is way better then the trailer. I thought parts of the film did lack enthusiasm from the actors but the film in all was good and the story is what sold me. Heartbeat is a good film overall!

This is one of those films you need to watch right to the very end. Suspenseful and wild. Heartbeat will have your heart beating!

Gregory Hatanaka does it again!

I'm a big fan of Gregory Hatanaka so this was a must watch for me. A little different to his other films like Samurai Cop but it still has his stylistic approach that I love. Great acting, thrilling story and the ending had me at the edge of the seat. Those rating this low clearly doesn't understand anything about filmmaking or how to make a film. Respect!
