Game changer.

The Irregulars are sent to a Grand estate to solve a Mystery, their host, Mycroft Holmes.

If I'm honest I had a little bit of indifference to the first two, I did enjoy them, but maybe I just needed to get used to what was being presented, and the pretty unique characteristisations.

This seemed to follow the more traditional format, and the type of episode I was expecting, the country house murder mystery, yes there was a supernatural twist, but it worked incredibly well, it felt natural, not contrived.

Beautifully produced, and very well acted, with lots of familiar faces. The costumes in particular were wonderful, a decadent production.

I do have to take issue with Watson, I'm almost surprised that The Conan Doyle estate signed off on this characterisation, a monster????? Not sure about that.

All in all it was thoroughly watchable, I really enjoyed it, best so far, 8/10.

On the fence

I was on the fence until this episode.

I love the way they turned the episode into a classic whodunnit. The plot has moved forward, the acting as finally proven itself and the characters and their relationships start to coalesce and take shape.

The surreal and occult nature of the show worked very well in this episode because it was removed from the unlikely backdrop of victorian London to a more remote location where there was less clash between realism and fairytale.

Enjoyable, above-par episode.

Chapter Three: Ipsissimus

Another supernatural story as Mycroft Holmes invites the Irregulars to his country estate.

It has been a scene of some grisly murders with a supernatural element link to a paranormal society called the Golden Dawn and some tarot cards.

It is a whodunnit that has been stylislish shot. This is an episode that is beautiful to look at and also delves into some characterization, especially Bea and Jessie.

There is no Sherlock again and also no Dr Watson in this one. These characters still pervade the story.

Sherlock had his own secret room in the house and Watson is portrayed as someone sinister.

Classy

A classic whodunit set in a large, ornate mansion. Beatrice and Jessie are working undercover at Mycroft's behest; posing as his nieces while they try and unravel a murder mystery.

There is the snarky behavior between the members of the "Inner Circle" one comes to expect from these situations.

The supernatural angle was well done.
