The near-as-damn-it perfect short film
bruce-62713 October 2008
I saw this short at the recent 2008 Raindance short film festival.

Out of the 12 films viewed, this was the one that had the most impact upon me (closely followed by Andy Loves film 'All Embracing'). The comic-tragic elements of the film were beautifully balanced, and the cast, story and photography were excellent.

Why this film wasn't nominated for an award remains a mystery. Perhaps it was something to do with the fact that the UK Film Council hadn't had anything to do with it (Bless them).

I'm not quite sure how they do it - but the Irish have this innate ability to access our emotions without being cheesy or tacky. Hollywood take note. I really hope this film is picked up for Broadcast ... or gets nominated for Sundance. The filmmakers really deserve it.
