Better! Episode two is an improvement over the initial one, as it has less "work" to do and can concentrate a little more on being funny.

After squabbling about possession of the boat, the group split into different pairings to complete their own objectives. Kat (Leah Brotherhead) and Sunny (Hamza Zeetooa) take the boat north, to meet BigDameHero (Rocheda Sandall) - Kat's gaming clan leader and survival expert. Meanwhile, Jo (Cara Theobold) and Amar (Ryan McKen) head back to Jo's house to pick up her phone and attempt to contact her ex-boyfriend, to explain not only about stealing his boat, but also about killing his new (and newly undead) girlfriend.

So we're settling into a rhythm now and getting to know the characters a little more. The references in this one felt a little less forced and there are a few more lines that got a chuckle out of me. It settled into a classic A story, B story format, before reuniting the characters at the end and sending them on their way. They also added a couple of stunts to this episode, one of which, ramming a lock with the canal boat, I'm surprised they were allowed to get away with.

Let's not go too far, it's not suddenly become Britain's new zeitgeisty Sitcom, it could still do with being funnier, or more dramatic. It still looks a bit on the cheap side, with decent practical effects but lacking in scope; shots of an empty city centre, rather than one teaming with Zombie threats.

But all I could realistically ask for would be for an improvement over the first episode, and I got that. If it improves again next week, I might be at the point where I recommend it.

Episode 1.2

I thought this was better than the first episode. More consistent in its humour but it still lapses into silliness too much.

Kat and Jo reluctantly accept Sunny and Amar as their new boatmates but this looks like it will be an uneasy relationship. More nods to Zombieland. Although the girls realise they might need some muscle and Amar does like to show his off.

However Amar is certainly more brawn than brains as he proves when he tries to hotwire a car when he and Jo go off to find a mobile phone.

Meanwhile Kat meets up with an online gaming friend she has never met in person before. The trouble is she is also hiding a secret and Sunny is soon on to it.

I watched this with my teenage son who is the target audience. He did not laugh once which is probably not what the makers of this show were aiming for.
