Episode 3: A quite nice and thorough episode involving various main and supporting characters, having required development, moving the story forward, again beautiful setting, costumes, photography and filming.

The duke got more than he bargained for in the end.

Making Him Jealous
vivianla24 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode opens up with Daphne and Simon dancing at a ball and Simon lightly touches Daphne's shoulders and back. Daphne wakes up shocked and aroused.

Later Simon eats with a spoon and Daphne notices it in an arousing way.

The girls have been trained all their life in the arts to make them attractive for marriage. Daphne plays the piano and Eloise reads a book.

Eloise ponders on what society tells her what she has to do and what she wants to do. She loves intellectual hobbies and school.

Daphne is so good at articulating her words and is a good conversationalist. The men at the ball don't compare to Simon.

Daphne pleads with Simon to please explain how can physical and intangible go together to make a baby? How does the process work? Mothers don't explain anything to their daughters. Simon looks so cute in this scene. He asks Daphne if she touches herself. He questions you do touch yourself? He then suggests she touch her body where it feels good and keep doing it until she feels a release. Daphne seems to have felt those normal sexual urges as shown in the earlier scenes but it is not clear to her what it is all about.

Daphne goes to her candlelit room and tries it out.

Anthony goes back to the opera singer who he previously had sex many times with. She refuses to let him be with her again.

Simon is told by the woman who raised him she will be upset if he is just spending time with Daphne without planning on proposing. If Daphne loses her chance with the prince she will be upset at him.

Daphne meets Simon in front of the cafe and Simon tells her their agreement is done.

Daphne tells her maid to get the silver dress and the hair ornaments that the maid likes on her.

At the ball Daphne appears at the top of the stairs and everyone looks up and stares. She is the belle of the ball and walks down the stairs. The prince asks for a first dance. Daphne uses the method she previously had fun talking about with Simon - dropping her fan intentionally for there to be a flirtatious moment.

Simon looks jealous and firm. He walks out of the ball as the prince and Daphne dance.

Hand me a pen

Warning: Spoilers
Hand me a pen, I could have written this episode myself. Not a single plot point was unexpected, from the Dukes rejection to the fake letter from Spain. Terribly predictable tropes abounded. Still good acting and beautiful costumes.

Art of the Swoon
Prismark1010 March 2021
There is a Prussian prince about looking for an eligible bride. The Queen expects Daphne will be the focus of Prince Friedrich's attention.

Daphne though is aroused by Simon. She has developed moist feelings for him.

Simon makes it clear to Daphne, that their relationship is purely an arrangement and no more.

There is a lot of partying in this episode. Bridgerton is all about balls where suitable ladies show themselves off.

Simon is more in his element when the other men get together for some raucous drinking and gambling.

Another colourful if frothy but rather rude episode. At least Bridgerton shows that this is not a society of just aristocrats. A less prosperous part of the town is shown. A warning of the fate that awaits those who fall down the ranks of the privilege.

Amazing how information can pass to an anonymous and unknown gossip writer and a pamphlet be printed and produced so quickly without digital communications and modern printing equipment.
