Great season
jpismyname4 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I really think 1984 is going to be one of the best seasons of AHS. The first episode is fantastic, the second one is even much better. This episode is also amazing, but not as great as the previous two.

The first twist, I kinda predicted because of the 2nd episode. I don't want to spoil it for you. The second twist is really shocking. I mean I never saw it coming! It made sense now why Ramirez is kinda obsessed with Brooke. I also don't trust that girl.

You cannot trust anyone this season. Everyone has something evil to hide, except probably for Xavier and Chet...but who knows?

An episode that defines more layers than just a slasher.
bingepulse-062934 October 2019
Love the change in character development, we see who's good and who's bad. I was skeptical on how far this was going to go for 10 without getting bland. We are still early but I'm hopeful. Mrs. Ross is doing an excellent job and was glad to see more of her character. We get some pretty brutal deaths with the classic tone of flash cut scenes. My only grip is a particular death, in the story I wish we could have explored more of their story. Potential side plot that unfortunately turned filler. Overall I'm enjoying the twists and turns in this nostalgia type genre.

Warning: Spoilers
The first twist involving "Nurse Rita" was good and something the show needed, but Montana being aligned with The Night Stalker was too much. I get that they're going for too much and parodying the films of the 70's and 80's, but you can't sacrifice the story for it.

A solid episode, but that's one thing I think the writers regret.

This season keeps getting better and better!!!

I was a huge fan of episode 1 and wasn't so sure of episode 2 until I got a chance to rewatch, but after this episode, it immediately became one of the best episodes of the most recent 3 seasons!! I am not a huge fan of twists in this type of season, just because I'm a huge fan of slasher movies and I want this season to remain that and not turn into anything else and so far, all of the twists are very interesting and don't ruin the theme of the season. Also this episode might have the best kill so far even though it's borrowed from Friday the 13th Part 5.

Epic dismal brilliance!

Mr. Jingles (John Carroll Lynch) is legendary and it's cool too because I finished the HBO show Carnevale with him in it; that was fantastic but unfortunately was canceled. Anyway "It's Darwin man, survival of the fittest" love that line! So many awesome 80's classic bits in the season - slowly becoming my top 3 favorites.

Best Season Since Freakshow
deanpodesta5 October 2019
It's a shame that this is currently the least watched season of the show, as after years of mediocrity they have finally got it right again. No Lady GaGa, no politics, no sex scenes... just pure dramatic horror that now keeps me intrigued for the next episode.

Cringeworthy!!
Cuddles1005 October 2019
This season is so bad it's pretty much turned into some sorta comedy! Seems they have gone out their way to mock 80's Horror movies rather than embracing them! There's gonna have to be some epic twist coming In order for it to be saved!

Surprising!

This episode roots back to true American Horror Story, riddled with twists!

Every episode adds and adds and flips the previous one on its head, looks like nobody is safe at camp redwood!

Killing sprint. Very bland and not tasty episode. It was totally predictable, just killing ,killing ,killing. That's not what American Horror Story used to be...

Simply brilliant season

Warning: Spoilers
How are the writers pulling this off? Ever since the AHS 1984 premiere, which reeled the viewer in with a fun trope-heavy homage to the 80s, I've been expecting the obligatory filler/slow-down episode, but it has yet to happen. . The second episode starts to add layers of depth to select characters, some of which surprisingly so, while initiating an entertaining narrative. Now this third episode "Slashdance" ups the ante by not only fleshing out even more characters, but twists the story in completely unexpected and shocking ways and doing all this in a way that makes total sense. Add to all of this a breakneck pace, great setting, sublime music choices, and a sharp and witty script being executed by the perfect troupe of actors who feed off each other and play their roles to the hilt and suddenly, we have on our hands what may be the most satisfying and memorable season of AHS in years!

I actually think that the mindless fun B-grade slasher genre is EXACTLY the reason why Season 9 will end up being it's most entertaining one. The writers are doing a superb job of mixing all of the 80s homages along with very relatable sarcasm and banter. The dialogue is hilarious without being cringe. There were so many great lines and funny moments in this episode and it was all happening as part of an episode with nonstop action. It's basically a slasher movie stretched out into a season, which has been done before, but rarely this well.

I do have a gripe with these low ratings that are starting to manifest for Season 9. I mean, I get it, this season isn't featuring a bunch of Oscar or Emmy-award winning actors, but so what? The actors that are here are doing an amazing job with their characters and making this season a smashing success. They're paying tribute to cheesy 80s teen slasher movies, not the freakin Godfather. Season 9 is great so far!

Why Haven't You Killed Her Yet???
wandernn1-81-68327420 August 2021
Every time I see Lynch I keep thinking about poor poor Tabitha. (Walking Dead Reference.) He's great though in this role.

And then omg IS THAT SKINNER??? Great to see him here. +1 Star.

Not sure exactly why most of this seemed boring. Richard Ramirez's girlfriend is revealed. 6/10.

Blood was spilled

Warning: Spoilers
Whoa! This episode is awesome. We see the campers divided between two groups one of which is being attacked by Mr jingles and one by The other satan. Brooke get a needle pierced in the back of her neck by the fake nurse that turned out to have made a deal with Mr jingle so that he can escape to the camp so that she can conducts a scientific research on what makes serial killers do what they do for her doctoral thesis. Also, upon breaking the house thru the window, satan, traps the campers inside one of whom, the coward, suggests that they go separately likening it to Darwin's theory of the survival of the fittest. But he gets cornered by the slasher holding satan that slashes him couple times until his brave friend rescues him by pushing satan to the side wall. They escape into the wood to be entrapped by a hole in the ground filled with spikes that it is believed that Mr jingles had installed. The brave fellas fell and landed back first with a spike thru his shoulder. He is in pain now,and his coward friend recounts an act of coward ness he'd done in a party where he caused the death of his chinese friend. He finally decided to leave his pained friend in the hole and run. On the other side of the camp, Mr jingle that was terrorizing the campers inside the house turn out to be three friends that were celebrating a tradition of remembering the murder that happened in the camp by Mr jingle by dressing in his clothes. Their third friend was somewhere else, and when the real mr jingles showed up he murdered the two of them; the third was later pushed to the spiked hole on the assumption that he was the real mr jingle. Btw, the man in the hole with a spike thru his heart gets rescued by his friends. The end scene and the coolest is when that coward leaves the horny girl once again to run for his life on a motorcycle to be stopped by a mr jingles' bat hit to his head that cleanly cut his head off his body, and we saw how a headless body was riding the motorcycle. The girl left alone with satan grabs satan to her violently, and begins kissing him, ending it with a lip bite and then the big revelation in which she says why haven't u killed her already. She seemed to have wanted brooke to be murdered all along. The thing I don't understand is how is that scientific experiment faring. I mean shouldn't that doctorate student be following the guy, taking notes or whatever?.

Not as strong as the first two
Drank223 October 2019
Didn't find this episode as good overall as the first two instalments. Still a good watch however, just a few scenes and lines that could be labeled as more or less 'stupid.' Some aspects of this episode I didn't find very believable in the context of people reacting in a normal way.... Some very interesting things happen in this episode and these 'twists' were the saving grace for this episode, at least for me. I actually was very surprised and didn't see any of them coming. Good performances by Angelica Ross and Cody Fern. Most of the cast didn't have much else to really work with this episode. They were still good, but most of the main cast were put on the back burner this episode in terms of dialogue. Gus Kensworthy you could tell was trying his best, but I couldn't help but compare him to other actors throughout the seasons who did a more believable performance in a similar scenario. Overall it's fine, but it's distracting me for some reason. Deron Horton I guess gave a good performance as well, but maybe it was just the context of the flashback scene and some aspects of the script that made it seem a little off. This episode doesn't really explain the major revelations from the previous episode or even mention them, but instead adds several new ones. Overall was another enjoyable episode that I think serves more as a setup for the next episode rather than a solid standalone.

I think deep down I want to give it a 7/10, but the very awesome death scene (you know the one) and the unexpected twists make it at least an 8.

S9.E3 - Lots of Fun [9/10]
panagiotis199313 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S9. E3) My Live Reaction / Review for American Horror Story Season 9 Episode 3 ''Slashdance''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Nobody believed what Brooke was saying, now they believe her but its too late. Is nurse Rita a villain too? What is going on? Wow, so Rita is responsible for what is going on, she helped Mr. Jingles to escape! Such an evil woman, she is worse than Mr. Jingles. Ray killed this dude and it was so dumb, he didn't even check if the dude was alive. Ray left Chet behind? Such a coward. I hate it when they don't show the violence, i like gory stuff. Im so glad they saved Chet. Mr. Jingles killed Ray? Damn, that sucks, good kill though. Montana works for Ramirez? Didnt see that coming! Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

An amazing twist on the slasher genre
juniorrochalks12 July 2021
I'm not a fan of the AHS series, so I can't compare it to other seasons. But I am a huge fan of slashers and I have to say this is probably the best twist on the genre since Scream in 1996. I know Ryan Murphy has the tendency to start every single project at an 11 and eventually things go downhill and you just wonder "How could he ruin this?" so I'm ready for the disappointment that I'm sure is just around the corner with this one. So far I'm just enjoying the wonders of a breath of fresh air into my favorite genre of film/shows and it is so worth it. I'm definitely recomending this one to all slasher fans out there!
