I'm just laughing about this other review rn

"Too many women", "too many feelings", "in an era where men ruled".

Dude. It's a fantasy show in a fictional world. If you can't look at women then watch some of the 100K male lead shows. If you can't watch people with feelings go watch football.

You're a weird creature.

Great episode

I enjoyed this episode. It was a step up from the pilot. Great to see they kept about the same running time, the episodes could even be longer. Laura Donnelly plays a fantastic lead, and the antagonist looks like some kind of crazy Joker character who is one step ahead sometimes.

Please just hire Italian actors
letiziapetrino21 May 2021
This always happens. They always hire non italian speaking actors and make them memorize italian lines. It's extremely cringing and lazy. Just hire Italian actors please, they need to work as well. The show is nice and original but I got so annoyed by the "Italian" speaking bits that my viewing experience was a bit ruined.

The Victorian_London somnifere

An above-average episode with great production value, good score and decent acting, but with a dismal flow and boring sub-plots. 2 episodes have passed and still nothing shiny and thrilling in sight. I suspect it'd continue like that and it's like a parody of a 19th century London X-Men with great inventions and nice costumes in the background.

Exposure

A better episode than the pilot. More sharper and also a little more humour.

However it still has an aura of seen it all before in other shows.

It's still X Women in the Victorian era. The twist and reveal at end was not shocking at all. Especially when those blue ribbons were being handed out, the subtext was clear.

It comes across as a bit too handed metaphor of discrimination.

That ridiculous club scene run by Hugo Swan where the Touched are used for sex. It was done better by Frankie Goes to Hollywood when they sang Relax back in 1984.

different
Kirpianuscus21 April 2021
The first episode propose the Victorian frame and the event changed lives. This episode defines The Nevers be more than nice other Victorian series. The care the details, the cultural references, the speech of crows , the ambiguity so well acted by Olivia Williams, the humor and the crumbs of romance are pieces making a fascinating atmosphere and offereng the premises for a great, great story about apparences, ambiguity of evil and just a noble cause. So, different by what can expect.
