The karaoke just makes me cringe

I'm on my umpteenth rewatch and season 7 is hard to get through. But I always dread this episode because the karaoke scene is just to awkward for me... why this songgggg

I'm literally watching it right now and almost can't watch it.

I've always wanted L&L to get back together but in this rewatch I kind of really don't want it to happen now? Luke's a real dick actually and Lorelai is also a really bad communicator.

Actually this episode foreshadows the later episodes "a year in the life" because it was obvious here that Rory wouldn't get all she ever wanted. In the latter seasons we don't really see her working and studying that hard.

A tad boring

It's karaoke night at KC's and Lorelai decides to take on Dolly's version of "I Will Always Love You". Luke walks in and Lorelai stares him down while singing the song. This is probably as good as the episode gets.

Lorelai notices that Luke is wearing his old hat again, and she thinks it's a sign. We find out later that the other hat was wedged behind the dishwasher in the diner. Did Luke just lose the hat and decided to wear the old one? Or did he do it on purpose? Maybe this is what we needed to see one of them initiate a spark again.

The episode ends with Logan coming to Lorelai to ask for her permission to propose to Rory.
