Party problems
ShadeGrenade18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
International Rentals' man in Jamaica - Reggie Anderson - has died, and his job is up for grabs. Harry and Fletcher both have their eye on it. A party is due to take place at the Deputy Chairman's home. Fletcher is too embarrassed to bring his alcoholic wife, so he asks Susan to take her place. Rex goes with Carol ( lucky man ). A drunken guest ( Tenniel Evans ) throws a glass of wine over both Susan and Harry's snooty wife 'Jean' ( Maureen O'Brien makes a third and final appearance in the role ). An angry Harry hits him...

Another Kenneth Cope-scripted episode. Not quite as good as his last one ( 'Leapfrog' ) but still amusing. Carol's surname is revealed - 'Lumley' ( anyone relation to Joanna, one wonders? ). Peter Bayliss, who plays the Deputy Chairman ( Harold Innocent was presumably unavailable this week ) played the drunken 'David Dunstable in 'Please Sir!' and 'The Fenn Street Gang'. Tenniel Evans' other credits include 'The Two Of Us' and the radio series 'The Navy Lark';

Funniest moment - Rex tripping over Fletcher's new suit as he brings it into the office.

Lastly, on an unrelated note, Five screened a documentary about 'Man About The House' at the weekend. Good, but spoilt slightly by the usual procession of D-list celebrities ( many of whom looked too young to remember the series ) explaining in great detail why the show was funny ( as if we could not work it out for ourselves ). There was no mention either of the 1974 spin-off movie or 'Three's Company', the American version of the show, which starred the late John Ritter and the late Suzanne Somers.
