Carol has lost a pair of tights behind a filing cabinet. Ever the gallant gentleman, Fletcher attempts to retrieve them. In so doing so, he strains his back. Rex helps his boss out of the building and takes him home. In the absence of 'Lillian', Fletcher's wife, Rex finds himself lumbered with the responsibility of nursing Fletcher back to health. Trouble looms on the horizon - the fearsome 'Enid Harrison' ( the late Margaret Courtenay ) of Head Office pays International Rentals a visit. Fletcher worries that his job may soon be on the chopping block...
Written by Kenneth Cope, this is probably the best 'Squirrels' episode not written by Eric Chappell himself. Those of us who suffer from back trouble will sympathise with Fletcher's predicament. An interesting aspect of the episode is Burke taking Fletcher's place and actually making a decent job of it.
Funniest moment - Fletcher is speculating about his future. Rex tries to reassure his boss that the company cannot just get rid of him. Then, a wicked smile crosses Rex's face. "Can they?", he says, clearly relishing Fletcher's discomfort.
