Warning: Spoilers
Rex is having problems with his living room carpet. It won't stay in one place and so Susan glues it to the floor. Hearing that Mr. Fletcher is shortly to get a new office carpet, Rex asks if he can have his old one. He gets his wish. Rex and Susan are delighted. But then, the company experiences a loss in profits and Fletcher is told he cannot have his new carpet after all...

Kenneth Cope is primarily remembered as an actor in such iconic series as 'That Was The Week That Was', 'Coronation Street' ( in which he played 'Jed Stone' ), 'Doctor Who', 'Dixon Of Dock Green' ( a wonderful episode called 'Jackpot' ) and, of course, the ghostly 'Marty' in 'Randall & Hopkirk ( Deceased ). He found time to write for sitcoms as well, including an episode of the first season of David Jason's 'A Sharp Intake Of Breath'. This, the first of several instalments he would write for 'The Squirrels', bears a strong resemblance to an 'On The Buses' episode from 1970 entitled 'Busmen's Perks'. In the latter, 'Stan Butler' purloined some paint from the depot. Here its a carpet. The main difference is Stan did not have permission to take the paint. Rex's use of the carpet is fully authorised.

Harry comes across as particularly nasty here. Witness the look of glee on his face when Fletcher asks for the carpet back. Harry appears to have forgotten Rex helped him out recently when he made a made a drunken fool of himself at a party.

Derek Smith and Linal Haft also appear.

Funniest moment - Fletcher has his carpet back. He walks across it only to get two pieces glued to the soles of his shoes.
