Ada takes pity on a man who's going to be on his own for Christmas, much to Alf's annoyance she invites him round. Alf is tasked with getting the turkey, but of course messes things up.
It's an amicable rough episode, though definitely not a classic, very much an early episode, it's a little rough around the edges. Most of the jokes revolve around The Vicar, and Alf putting his foot in it, not sure I found all the stuff with the tree funny, Mrs Brown's Boys would use similar themes in years to come.
It is at least interesting to get an insight into what a family Christmas was like for the average British family back in the late 1950's, people didn't have any of the mod cons, or lots of money, but they did manage to create their own entertainment.
Charles Lloyd Pack was definitely a funny man and a fine actor, he does a good job as The Vicar, he had a good sense of timing.
5/10.
