A great ending to the first season -- serious, shocking final moments...

Warning: Spoilers
With the first season of Skins, so much goes on. There's love, laughs, violence, drugs, sex, mental health problems, abuse and many turn of events take place, many changes happen, many fallouts and breakups happen, and it's really done in a great, fresh, new way and brings drama to the TV in such a well-written way. The characters are unique, interesting, and lovable, hell, the side-characters are too. The writing is consistent and well-paced and smart and well done. The acting is great, especially for a bunch of actors and actresses who hadn't really done much beforehand, and were at that age at the time.

With this episode, there is focus on all prominent characters, but my favourite characters in this episode were Anwar, Maxxie, Tony and Sid. There's a lot of hilarious moments in this episode too and I find it to be one of the funniest episodes. Anwar's sisters and mum walking in on him, his Uncle winding him up, Sid getting mistaken for someone who should be locked up in an asylum-type, Chris messing with Angie's husband, and of course, that insane roundhouse kick from Anwar at the party. There's a lot of funny things here. But there is some truly sad and shocking moments, especially Tony getting hit by the bus and knocked down, and a very heartfelt, touching moment when he tells Michele he loves her, as well as when Sid and Cassie meet at the bench outside... these are all some of the reasons why I enjoy this episode so much. It's got some very important moments that tie into the second season and it has some great, gripping moments that make it worth it as a season finale.

Overall, my favourite episode of season one, and my third favourite episode of the entire series. It has drama, it has comedy, it has action even.. it's just a great, well-written episode, decent pacing, good acting, good build up, the dialogue is fine, the music is amazing, and there are one or two surprises along the way..

Mixed bag.

Finally there's the finale, again with some really sweet dialogue "I don't care if you think you're odd. It's not right you hiding in the clinic, got to get out there in the world." We meet Anwar's family who seem nice, if a tad overbearing, but pretty good by Skins standards. Chris is troubled though when an ex-lover of Angie reappears, Michelle and Tony also spend a lot of the episode doing some reflection and Sid comically manages to get himself locked up while Cassie writes to say that she's leaving Bristol and it's best if Sid just forgets about her. You get some more mainstream popular music from Anwar's disco, we also see Tony helping Sid out for a change, doing some good for someone else. The episode struggles a bit to juggle all the different plot points but overall it does a decent enough job of tying things up or so we think.

Ruined by the ending

This episode was great until the final few minutes when they ruin the emotional moment by having the cast lip sync a song. It's completely unnecessary and it doesn't fit the mood that's setup moments before. As a whole the episode would be a 9 star in my books but, due to that 1 star ending, I have to give it a 5 star.

I've rewatched skins countless times and this is the only episode that annoys me.

Absolutely irritating

Warning: Spoilers
So Sid wanders into a mental health clinic and through contrived humour is forced to be admitted. He's immediately locked up, because of course he is. This is definitely believable. For a show trying to break boundaries and create discourse on issues in society, it sure is trite. The frustration relationship between Sid and Cassie is drawn out for filler. The writing is repeatedly idiotic and stupid. In one scene, Sid walks to the car and enters it, then says, 'Tony, this is my Dad's car.' Really? The shoddy editing makes everything seem stunted and awkward. Maybe a shorter run time would do it good.

Anwar's Birthday Party and Tony Tries To Get Back With Michelle
vivianla27 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Anwar wakes up and says he was dreaming about Russian virgins. His friend jokes how it is against his Muslim religion.

He walks to the window naked. He has a tall, skinny body. His female relatives and mother pop in to say happy birthday and laugh at how small his penis his.

Anwar's mother has a birthday party prepared with her brother being the DJ. Anwar meets a girl and asks if for sure she is not related to him in anyway. Is she not his cousin? She says she isn't.

Right after his DJ uncle calls out Anwar is to be married to a cousin from Pakistan. It was a joke.

Cassie wears a cute blue and white uniform. The kind I see in anime a lot.

In the last scenes I like her white sparkly makeup. She has white sparkly shadow in the corners of her eyes.
