One of the least interesting of all the Jacques Cousteau episodes...

The episode begins at the waters off Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. The narrator (Rod Serling) begins talking about the history of diving-- going from primitive diving gear from the 19th century and moving on to the creation of the aqualung by Jacques Cousteau himself in the 1940s. I thought this was pretty interesting stuff...but sadly this history lesson was very, very brief and left me wanting to know more about Cousteau's work. Then, it switched to work on the mini subs and their working on an emergency--freeing a sub stuck down below. While this sounds interesting, it really wasn't and took up almost all the episode. So there you have it--so cool sea life, no cute aquatic animals...nothing. Just a lot of footage about mini subs and how the Calypso uses it. Very dull stuff and not at all like the other, and much better, episodes of "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau".
