Great Short
goodfilms20064 July 2007
David Reon Nguyen makes an impressive film debut as a writer/director with this short "Trapped." I recently saw this short at a film festival where it won best narrative. Trapped is a refreshing short film. The film succeeds as a drama/suspense, capturing the main actor isolation inside of his house as he struggles to figure out what's going on. I enjoyed how everything came together at the end and the look of the film with the blue tone in certain scenes. The film made me think about what is most important in my life. And how I can take the people around me for granted at times. I look forward to seeing more films from this director in the future. If you ever get a chance to see this film you should.

It has a mean of 7.9, yet the score is 2.9.

The scoring system for films on IMDb is rather confusing--especially with films that only have a few ratings. This film is certainly no exception. As of today, 11 of the 19 scores were 10s and the overall mean score is a very respectable 7.9. Yet, somehow, the rating for the film currently is 2.9--and with a score that low you would naturally assume this is a bad film--which it certainly isn't.

The film consists of a man in an odd dreamworld of sorts. Again and again, he interacts with his wife and daughter--only to have them disappear like vapor. He's miserable and trapped with no way out of this nightmare world...or so it seems. By the end of the film, the puzzle all finally makes sense and the film wraps it all up very well.

No complaints about this film--it's well made and enjoyable.
