Deserves an Oscar of the Trash-Movie
claudio_carvalho26 May 2010
The deranged actress Mistress Eleanor Maxwell (Eileen Dietz) runs the Rustic Theater in a small town with her husband Bob (David Schroeder) and their mute employee Hugo (Steven Kunkle). Eleanor has a past in Los Angeles, when she had a mental breakdown while shooting a horror movie and killed the lead actress and the director; after spending a long period in a mental institution, Eleanor was advised by her doctor to move to a small town environment and is controlled by Bob. After the Teen Screen Festival in the Rustic Theater, Eleanor is hissed by the audience and feels disturbed. Meanwhile, the boys Tommy Greeen (Trevor Stevens) and his best friend Jason (Chancellor Miller) are violently bullied by the smalltime criminal Dorian Bach (George Contreras) and his gang formed by his girlfriend Willow (Jessica McCabe) and Renaldo (Cameron Gharaee) on the back of the movie theater. However, Bob and Hugo save the boys and beat Dorian. Late night, the hoodlum Dorian returns, breaks in the movie theater and kills Bob. Detective Chambers (Jeff Kinnartz) is unable to arrest Dorian since the police does not find any evidence to incriminate the killer. When Dorian threatens Tommy's sister Jessica (Katelin Phipps) and his teacher Ms. Hardy (Geneva Somers), Tommy and Jason find the hideout of his gang and discover that Chambers is partner of Dorian in a sect. Meanwhile Eleanor is totally insane and plots revenge against the teenagers with Hugo in the reopening of the Rustic Theater.

"The Queen of Screens" is one of the most entertaining B-movies I have ever seen and would deserve an Oscar of the trash-movie. The absurd story and the messy screenplay have many plot holes; the direction of Margo Romero follows Ed Wood's style; the acting with few exceptions is terrible; the sets and costumes are very poor; the lighting is amateurish. However, considering that this is a film with extreme low- budget and unknown and rookie cast, the result is not so bad at all if the viewer is fan like me of trash movies. My vote is five.

Trash, nothing more...

It seems interesting. It only seems. Revenge in the movies? The "film" is far from being about it. Over 90% of it, shows a gang of Gothics who haunts a small town, killing and raping, two friends trying to be the heroes of the city and there, in the third plan, is the actress who plans his revenge after the death of her husband, who was murdered by the gang leader. The such revenge only happens 10 minutes before the movie end with more than half the people in the theater (which was practically empty) die by drinking rat poison. I only watched to the end not to say that I spent my money for nothing. It did not help. I trusted because it is a Universal Pictures movie, but it is a horrible production that I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
