****SPOILERS**** It's when ex pug or professional fighter Bakey Baker, James Gregory, is found laying drunk in this back alley with a very badly beaten Mr. Wilson, Leonard Stone, he's charged with assault and brought down to the nearest police precinct to be booked. Bakey calling his good friend Mark Sanger, Don Mitchell, whom he trained as his prison boxing coach for help Bakey is suddenly bailed out by bar owner Frank Bollo, Clifton James, before Sanger arrives to help him. It's found out by Mark that Bakey agreed to cop a plea in order for the much more serious charges against him to be dropped. After getting nowhere with Bakey in trying to convince him not to make a deal in that it would brand him with a felony charge and keep him from getting a decent job and also lose the job, as a meat packer, that he has right now Mark Sanger goes to see his law school teacher Maria, Janet MacLachian, for expert legal advice,
It seems that no amount of convincing can get Bakey to change his mind in taking the rap for a crime that he didn't commit. He can't seem to realize the implications of pleading guilty and how in the future it would effect his life and means of earning a living! With Mark's boss & good friend Robert T. Ironside , Raymond Burr, landing a hand in helping the what seems like hapless Bakey Baker he soon finds out that the man that he supposedly assaulted Mr. Wilson was in fact a numbers runner for the mob! And the reason for him being beaten to a pulp was because he was holding out in his numbers money on the very person who bailed him out Frank Bollo for constantly stiffing him on his share of the profits!
****SPOILERS**** With Bekey about to plead guilty in court Ironside as well as Mark Sanger burst in with this very important information to prevent the what looked like punch drunk Bakey from screwing himself by him doing it. And with that Ironside exposed Frank Bollo for the hoodlum that he is as well as not being the nice guy as he want's everyone to think he is. In fact nice guy Bollo was ready to throw his good but not too bright friend, who's suffering from being punch drunk, Bekey under he bus to save his own neck. But because of Mark Sanger together with Marie and Chief Ironside coming to Bakey's rescue it was Bollo not Bakey who ended up in the clink or jail from assault battery extortion as well as illegal book making on is rap sheet.
