Bachchan versus Bachchan... again!

22 September 2009 12:04 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Looks like two Bachchan Sr. starrers will collide on same day. A couple of weeks ago, the makers of Teen Patti had officially announced the release date of their film [4th December]. On the other hand, the makers of Paa had confirmed November for their film. However, the makers of Paa decided to re-schedule the release date and have now confirmed 4th December, coinciding with the release of Teen Patti. The question is, will two Bachchan starrers arrive in the same week? In the past, Shootout At Lokhandwala and Cheeni Kum had released on the same date. Prior to that, Aetbaar and Khakee had clashed on the same Friday. While on release dates, at least two actors may be biting their nails in anxiety. While Wanted has just released, Salman will have two more releases - Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna and London Dreams in the same month, on 16th October and 30th October, »

Apoorva Lakhia's next based on Khalistan movement starring Sanjay Dutt, Big B

30 June 2009 2:27 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Realism has never been more in demand. And Sanjay Dutt who until recently was doing mainly fantasy is now on the realistic route. He'll soon start Raj Kumar Santoshi's film set in the Partition period. Dutt also plays a real-life cop in Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa set at the heart of Kashmiri militancy. And now, Sanjay Dutt will take time off to play a real-life cop who waged a fierce battle against terrorism in Punjab at the peak of Khalistan movement. Apoorva Lakhia, who has been in hibernation after the ill-fated Mission Istaanbul, is all set make a comeback with a film on the cops who battled Khalistani extremism. The terror situation in Punjab during the 70s and 80s will be recreated through rigorous research on that period. Lakhia says the film will occupy the same gritty real-time-real-space as his film Shootout At Lokhandwala. Sanjay Dutt will be playing a real-life cop, »

Mission Istaanbul - Movie Review

28 June 2009 1:50 PM, PDT | The Bollywood Ticket | See recent The Bollywood Ticket news »

'Mission Istaanbul' (2008): After director Apoorva Lakhia’s 2007 smash hit 'Shootout at Lokhandwala,' expectations were high for his subsequent project, 'Mission Istaanbul.' But those hopes couldn’t have been more thoroughly dashed by this disaster of a film. Vikas (played by Zayed Khan) is an Indian television journalist who takes a job at a news channel in Turkey that sounds a lot like Al Jazeera. Thankfully for both Vikas and the audience, Turkish commando Rizwan Khan (Vivek Oberoi) shows up to help him get the bad guys—and gives the film its only redeemable moments. The way Oberoi manages to convincingly deliver such bad lines is a testament to his talent. However, he’s »

Hide N Seek is about four friends played by Purab Kohli, Arjan Bajwa, Ayaaz Khan (Genelia's fiance in Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na) and Samir Kochhar whose terrible past catches up with them." Lakhia is taking his duties as a producer very seriously. "My director Sean is just a baby. We need to nurture new talent not intimidate them," says Lakhia probably referring to the way Lakhia was treated by his producer Sanjay Gupta during the making of Shootout At Lokhandwala. »

The process behind the casting of Vivek Oberoi as Paritala Ravi

30 April 2009 3:30 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Show Ram Gopal Varma a character whose life arouses a curiosity in him, and his flesh begins crawling towards the figure, so fast and precise that by the end of his research, Ramu would not be living his own life, but the life of that character. Recalling an incident from an interview with one of the Bollywood celebrities a month back, the actor quoted, "If the casting of your film is right, you've won half your battle". Ok, now hold your thought on the above quote. Right then, it was those coal-black eyes, glistening with absolute conviction and probably malicious intent. It was his first impression that gave us his last. At one point it gave us the shivers, not because he looked horrifying, but because he looked fearless and unstoppable in his quest for revenge. He perpetrated terror in his debut film and there on became a household name. »
