This episode is so weird! For a show about environmentalism this one becomes hilariously convoluted.
Ok so there's an ex-earth spirit compatriot of Gaia's called Zarm who is flying around in a meteor ship pretending to be a space alien, who has returned to Earth with powerful iron fists in order to attempt to tempt the Planeteers into following his powerful conqueror ways so that the Earth will be destroyed in a retaliatory nuclear war ..... okay. This feels so strange compared to the previous plots. We also get an introduction of the idea of Gaia conveniently becoming mortal if the Planeteers don't use their powers for peace. Shrug?
Why does Zarm want to destroy the Earth? Is he a jealous former lover of Gaia? Is he Father Earth? Was his intention to destroy that other planet or was it accidental? What are his motivations? How did he trap Captain Planet? Why did Captain Planet break free so easily? I have no idea and I don't know if we will ever see Zarm again.
The final message seems to have little to do with the story, it's about not graffitiing or littering or something.
This episode makes no sense whatsoever and that's why it's charming enough to be enjoyable as you scratch your head thinking, what on Earth?
