Room 222's previous episode had been one of its darkest about a student who dies of cancer. It had been the episode most everyone has talked about as the most hard to watch. Being this the case, I think the writers realized they needed to write a "funny" episode to make up for it and this is it. It features our favorite huckster with the silver tongue and the good heart Herbie who comes up with the idea to have a bannana eating contest to draw publicity to Walt Whitman and help get summer jobs for the students. Bruno Kirby does a great job as Herbie and you get the idea this guy could sell condoms to nuns. There is a funny scene at the end where they break the bannana eating record and Mister Kaufman is furious when he finds out how much money the little huckster made from this racket.

A comedic episode and one of the funniest. There is a 3 man team needed to break the record of 198 bananas eaten in an hour. Bernie, overweight girl Barbi are two of the contestants. The third is a skinny kid Cleon, played by Ty Henderson, he was in other episodes in this role but surprisingly not listed in the credits.
