Patty receives a letter from her friend's cousin Kip who invites her to Harvard for a dance. Her parents won't let her, and Richard storms off mad that she would go with him. Cathy suggests using psychology to get her parents to let her go to the college dance. She begins using the tactics to reverse their reactions to coming home late. It works on Richard as well who now pressures her to go as if a favor. Patty's not going out leads to concern for her parents who insist she go to the Harvard dance. When they find out her well-executed plan, a battle of wits follow.
