This Wagon Train story has Robert Fuller rescuing Dana Wynter from outlaws but in the process they lose their horses and Fuller is shot in the in the leg. When
they reach a spring Fuller can't go on and easterner Wynter has to find the Wagon
Train to get help.
When help does come Fuller has to face the real possibility that he could lose his leg and no longer scout or do much of anything active. And Wynter who has a fiance at a neighboring fort where her father is commandant is falling for Fuller, but hating the violence of the west.
