Warning: Spoilers
This episode was enjoyable, with Elaine having to write stories about Kramer for her boss-Good. Jerry trying to find out what's weird about his girlfriend-Average. George Finding the young Version of himself and than getting betrayed- Good. Kramer getting jumped by the Van Buren boys, which we don't get to see but Kramer explains what happens with great delivery and hilarious physical comedy by Micheal Richards. Storylines Tie in by George not giving the kid who he thought was the younger version of himself the scholarship. The kid teams up with the Van Buren boys and threatens George. George like George lies and says he was apart of the gang years ago, so they tell him to rob the next person that walks by. Of course 😂 the Seinfeld's walk By....... Anyways George try's telling the Seinfeld's to just give him the purse and he'll give it back But they walk away and just say he's being rude. George tells the Van B boys to wait..... and than.... Freeze frame on George running away from the gang. This episode is not by any means one of the best, but it's not bad at all. It was enjoyable to me, I say 8.

Don't Ever Ask Why
Hitchcoc25 March 2023
There are several ludicrous things at work in this episode. First of all we have Jerry falling for this beautiful, bright, charming girl. But others find her blah and not the best for him. George and Kramer take him aside and tell him to dump her. As is often the case, there is no reason on earth for this. Elaine's boss comes back from Myanmar and decides he want his life story made into a book, and hires Elaine to ghost write it. But he is so uninteresting that he purchases events from Kramer's life to use as his own, including something about getting dirt on his pants in a tunnel. George has his own story. He is in charge of the foundation's finding an intern. He picks a kid who is a carbon copy of him. He's shallow. He's unmotivated. But George dumps him and he joins a street gang called the Van Buren Boys, named after Martin Van Buren, the eighth president of the US. There's some choice stuff here with every quirky character showing their stuff.

About: George interviews kids for a scholarship.

Story and production: A fun story. Flowed really well. Production was smooth.

Laugh meter: 7. Kramers pants story and Seinfeld dating a perfect girl was a highlight.

Highlight: Jerry bringing his parents from Orlando to see a woman. Kramers pants story.

Who was the Villian? George because he operated on selfish and bonky motives.

Should you watch this?: Yes. A fun harmless episode. Many fun.

The Van Buren Boys

Another very silly, very funny episode of this show.

I can't believe it aired in 1997, it feels timeless. Other than the fact we now know Michael Richards is funny here, and not in real life...

Good overall.

Jed Rhein as Steven Koren
safenoe2 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm enjoying reflecting on Seinfeld, and re-watching many of the episodes after having first watched it when it debuted in the early 1990s. The Van Buren Boys is okay, and there are lots of sub-plots going on and one of them is where George tries to sabotage a scholarship and he kicks an own goal as they say in England. Anyway, Jed Rhein, who is still in the entertainment industry, plays Steven Koren, who George likes to be the scholarship holder, but it turns out Koren is actually more brighter than George expected, so George revokes his scholarship and infuriates the Van Buren Gang who can get nasty.

George vs. the Van Buren Boys
Samuel-Shovel29 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Van Buren Boys", Kramer runs afoul of a local street gang, only getting in their good graces after accidentally flashing their gang sign. Jerry dates a girl he's gaga for but his friends don't see it in her. He flies his parents in to get their opinion. Elaine is tasked with writing Peterman's biography. He buys Kramer's anecdotes off of him, meaning Cosmo can no longer share his stories with his friends. George is tasked with giving out a scholarship for Susan's foundation.

This episode is extremely forgettable, one of the most mediocre one's of the season. None of the subplots bring a lot of great laughs. I always love seeing Jerry's parents making an appearance but beyond this, there's not much to enjoy here.

I like the bit where The 'Inside Look' for this ep. wuz solely focused on Michael Richards' physical comedy. That's it. Had nothin' ta do the the entire episode...
