Cliff Miller has a mountain cabin and his storehouse has burned down. Roy and Dale bring him some supplies. While they are there, someone shoots Cliff and severely wounds him. When Dale and Roy report the crime, they are surprised to find that "Honest" Pat Brady has been elected sheriff! With Pat going about his duties with true Barney Fife efficiency, it's up Roy and Dale to investigate. With help from former sheriff Hank Fisher, they learn that Roger Wilson has been trying to buy Cliff's land for some unknown reason. Cliff's cousin, hillbilly Zeke Miller, arrives to find the bushwhacker as well. But he seems to be more of a hindrance and a is real dangerous man. This is an entertaining action packed episode.
