A Mug Named Frank
Prismark1013 November 2020
Nowadays it is expected that a long running series will start off with a bang and finish with a heart wrenching finale.

it is Season 5 of Public Eye and I thought this was a whimper.

Frank Marker has moved on in his life. There is no parole officer to answer to and he has his own business again.

However business is not brisk. As Mrs Mortimer explains to him, he lives in a town where the police and solicitors know that he is an ex con.

Frank encounters an elderly woman at a supermarket who absently minded placed some items in her bag. He saves her before the store detective can apprehend her.

Later Frank meets the elderly woman again in a restaurant with her son and in daughter in law. Her son Gerald has financial problems and takes a valuable silver box from his mother's mantlepiece to repair but in fact he wants to sell it. Gerald's wife contacts Frank.

It turns out that the silver box was stolen property from many years back and the police get involved.

An underwhelming episode. Barry Foster is the slimy Gerald with his business going down the pan in Windsor. Ray Smith plays Inspector Firbank who looks like he will be locking horns again with Frank. It seems Frank Marker looks to move to new pastures where they do not know about his past.
