Martens comes in and calls Clark, Jr., to a private room and points out that his name has appeared on a prostitutes call list. Now this woman is dead. He has had some contact with her but never that way. So there is only one other answer. The significant case is a big time drug dealer who holds sway over everyone he is in contact with. Andy works a guy to get his location. Andy comes close to getting killed by these guys and this closes any gap there was between he and Connie.

Warning: Spoilers
Remember when David Caruso reckoned NYPD Blue wouldn't last another season without his character, John Kelly?

Well...the award-winning show's actually made it nine seasons without Detective Kelly, and the tenth opens with Sipowicz getting into a hallway confrontation during the execution of a warrant with a loud lady who ends up spitting at him. Which Sipowicz - who has been called many things but one of them definitely not always calm and levelheaded - doesn't take too well.

It turns out, the lady is the girlfriend of a big-time gangster who takes umbrage at the offense caused to his girl and decides to teach Sipowicz a lesson.

A lesson using bullets, fired at and around the stationhouse with tragic consequences. A very serious start to the season.

Elsewhere, Clark comes in for some IAB attention after a dead prostitute has his number in her phone book. Clark says she was a CI, not registered...but there is more to this than meets the eye, and involves his father. And leads to issues with girlfriend, Detective Ortiz.

The mid-episode tension between Sipowicz and Clark after the shooting is palpable. Dennis Franz and Mark-Paul Gosselaar absolutely nail these scenes.

At the end of the episode, Sipowicz and McDowell cross an important bridge in their relationship. Could there finally - FINALLY - be some real happiness in the offing for our favourite detective?
