This was the end of an era for me in terms of 'My Family' and probably where it should have ended. Without the twist at the end this could have been a lovely ending to a show that despite being loathed by the critics, was loved by the public.
Janey's getting married, Ben actually has to show he has a heart by giving her away. Abi and Roger aren't that annoying at this stage, and even Michael has a decent storyline.
The best bit is that despite being absent for most of series 5 we get Nick back, played brilliantly as ever by Kris Marshall. He's not in it a lot, but his presence certainly boosts an already good episode.
Alas though the BBC had a cash cow and they were determined to milk it. And they did, for 6 more series, which by the end of there was no doubt that the Harpers had had their day. If only they'd gone out of a high.
