Warning: Spoilers
The very first episode of "Murphy Brown" started off with the song "Respect" which was the name of the episode as well, and over the past three and a half seasons, there have been several references to Murphy's admiration for her. Murphy is thrilled when she gets the opportunity to interview Aretha Franklin, and even shares some of her prized Aretha souvenirs with Eldon. But Aretha is stuck traffic trying to get to the FYI studio, and the news team has to stall, with Murphy even interviewing Carl. The arrival of Aretha in the last reel creates a good ten minutes of amusing banter between Murphy and the queen, and an unforgettable duet of "Natural Woman". Funny tidbits of Murphy's latest phony secretary and Corky's Max Factor segment are other highlights. Definitely in the top ten of Murphy's 270 episodes.
