Along Comes Alice
JordanThomasHall24 January 2020
Sam receives a letter from Aunt Bee that she will be continuing to stay with her sister for a long time. He has arranged for his cousin Alice (Alice Ghostley, "Bewitched"), a recently discharged 20-year career Army sergeant, to stay with them. She's afraid of having difficulty adjusting to civilian life and the people of Mayberry. Despite being friendly, she says things that rubs those she meets the wrong way (car knowledge over Goober, suggesting poker to Clara, food choices for Mike). Alice begins feeling purposely left out of activities. She volunteers to bake an important, "dramatic", patriotic three-tiered cake for the town festival, despite not having much baking skills. When the cake fails, her perception is at an all-time low. When a mini crisis arises, there may be a chance for redemption.

Rocky Alice Ghostley debut.
vitoscotti2 December 2023
The episode was "The Alice Ghostley Show". George Lindsey, Jack Dodson, Arlene Golonka, and Paul Hartman had some excellent chemistry that bailed out quite a few episodes. Here the introduction of Alice killed all that chemistry. Hopefully, she's put in a minor role in the future like Sam Jones (Ken Berry) and son Mike (Buddy Foster) were that invigorated the series.

Comically poor script was another Mayberry town pride oriented theme townspeople live for. Millie Swanson (Arlene Golonka) is sporting a cute short hairstyle. The new studio lot set has totally transformed Mayberry now unrecognizable. Epilogue duet from Sam and Alice was enjoyable.
