Mexico: UNCLE agents Solo and Kuriyakin discover that the Conquesta fencing school run by Dr Stoller (played by Paul Lukas) is a front for a THRUSH operation in which the pupils are being trained as supermen conditioned to kill. Stoller's star pupil, 18-year old Greg Martin (played by Christopher Jones) has been entered into the International Fencing Championship in Vienna and Solo and Kuriyakin follow him there. They believe it to be a cover for a THRUSH "field test" in which Martin will be ordered to destroy a population segment somewhere in Europe. Mr. Waverley (played by Leo G. Carroll) orders his two top agents to take him into custody, but that proves to be easier said than done since Martin is an agent of exceptional ability for his age and they only narrowly escape his attempts upon their lives. With the help of a teenage tourist from Oklahoma, Christine Hobson (played by Lynn Loring), whom has fallen madly in love with him, he escapes to Greece where target is a village near Athens. Will the UNCLE men stop him or will his love for Christine prevent him from carrying out his deadly assignment?
The second episode from season four of this cult spy series. It isn't as good as its predecessor, "The Summit Five Affair", but is still a fast paced and action packed globetrotting adventure. Solo and Kuriyakin's dices with death such as a booby tapped TV set that they must detonate in a matter of seconds before it is primed to explode allow for suspense. However, the most pleasing aspect about this one is the relationship that develops between the young THRUSH agent and his naïve, lovestruck girlfriend Christine, which threatens to blow apart Dr. Stoller's theory that he can create infallible supermen who are loyal only to his evil ends and immune to all human weaknesses and emotions. This provides the all important emotional angle to the story and it is effective thanks to Jones and Loring's performances. It concludes with a tense finale.
