Radames Pera is the focus in entry directed by David Carradine

Season 3 Episode 9- When David Carradine expressed an interest in directing an episode of KUNG FU, he was given a script that no one else wanted to handle, and the results were good enough for him to be given two more to direct. Here, instead of a Western story embellished with flashbacks of the temple in China, we have a story set in China with flashes forward to the American West, a disappointingly uninteresting hallucination by the adult Caine, confronted by an Aztec Priest (Michael Greene, previously seen in "Chains"). It is the student Caine, as played so well by Radames Pera, who is allowed to command our attention, as well as Brian Tochi, in his third and final appearance on the show (from "The Tide" and "The Stone"), playing Shen Ung, arrogant son of a dying mandarin (Victor Sen Yung), who secretly poisons the Shaolin youth to study his reactions, using his father's impending death as an excuse for his actions. For the first and only time in the entire series, Philip Ahn as Master Kan becomes a man of action when he realizes what has befallen his favorite pupil. There would be five forthcoming adventures set entirely in China, beginning with "The Devil's Champion." It's always a pleasure to see Charlie Chan veteran Victor Sen Yung (also BONANZA's Hop Sing), who would again be directed by Carradine in "Besieged: Death on Cold Mountain" and "Besieged: Cannon at the Gates." Apart from KUNG FU, Carradine's directorial efforts were all rarely seen family projects involving his acting brothers, but none with father John Carradine. Next up- "The Devil's Champion"

Through flashbacks Caine back as young grasshopper when his master Khan (Philip Ahn) receives a powerful and oldest Mandarin about to die been following by spoiled his young son who tries help his father to a journey to land of the dead, thus he fools grasshopper serving a poisoned couple of tea in hope to young Caine tells him when he passing from death what God his father must worship aiming to advise his dying father what right God he can follow to reach safely at land of dead.

Here in this episode the screenplay underlines an old saying all-to-common at Asia, where describe the social status where noblemen says "We are one among few, otherwise the vassals is one among too many" in a nutshell the vassals are expendables, in this mystical environment the episode unfolds.

Thanks for reading.
