A Charming Balance
dougdoepke14 October 2010
No wonder Gisele McKenzie guest starred so much on Jack's show. Together, they're a charming pair whether playing violin duets or making with the silly patter. Here, there're doing both, with Jack breaking up at one point in the patter. One secret of Jack's success, I believe, is his ease in working with others. His low-key brand of comedy blends in easily with others, and that's on charming display here. There's also a skit with Jack visiting the barbershop, where his tightwad reputation has made him unpopular. And once again, Jack and his writers manage to milk an ordinary event for a lot of laughs. All in all, it's an expertly balanced half-hour, although I don't think I'll be getting suits in Hong Kong anytime soon.
