Joe Cleaver (the always delightful Ernest Borgnine) and Haven (a fine and engaging performance by Michael Shannon) work together to stop psychopath Cliff Yancey (well played by Gerrit Graham) from blowing up a number of buildings and bridges in Los Angeles.
Director Ted Post relates the absorbing story at a steady pace, stages the exciting action set pieces with skill and flair, and adds several moments of amusing dry humor for good measure. The compact script by Ken Kolb and Harold Livingston offers a few neat twists. The sound acting by the able cast keeps things humming: John Amos as Cleaver's loyal, yet touchy partner Bundy, Harry Guardino as crooked CEO Brad Bannock, Albert Salmi as the huffy Captain Ron Wheeler, and Herbert Nelson as the gruff Captain Skaggs. Moreover, it's nice to see comic actor Graham sink his teeth into a rare and refreshing change of pace colorful and unstable bad guy role. An enjoyable episode.
