Two stage mothers are two too many!

Generally, Mary Tyler Moore played a wonderful wife and mother on "The Dick Van Dyke Show". However, occasionally the writers gave her parts to play that made me irritated and dislike her immensely...and "Boy #1, Boy #2" is one of them! She and Millie both play 'stage mothers'...and Laura is the worst of them.

Rob needs to write a commercial for the Tarantua, a sportscar (which he bought in a previous episode) and Mel will be directing it. However, Rob gets himself into a real mess by agreeing to put their neighbor, Freddy Helper in it. Now, Laura INSISTS Ritchie also be in the commercial. This isn't a terrible request, but it only gets worse. Then, Laura begins counting the number of lines each boy has and complains that Ritchie doesn't have as many. Then, Laura complains because in the commercial Ritchie is wearing a catcher's mask...and she wants everyone to see his entire face. Then, Mel shows up in Rob's office...demanding Rob get control of BOTH mothers as they are making his job impossible. They both act as if they are writing and directing the commercial! How can Rob remedy the situation?

I really disliked Laura immensely in this one...and Millie to a lesser extent. A sitcom should NOT have you disliking a major character...so I see this as a failure of an episode. One to skip if you want to continue liking Laura!

Contoinuety--ritchie was on TV.
