Obsession parts 1 and 2 (the final two episodes of season 5) and Resurrection parts 1 and 2 (the season 6 opener) form a very explosive (quite literally), dramatic and tense four-episode arch never before seen in Diagnosis Murder. I'm surprised Mark managed to humour himself through the massive trauma. In fact, in Obsession Part 2 we see people on fire, and in Resurrection Part 1 we see Jesse amputate a minor character's leg in an elevator about to snap. This reminded me of the elevator scene in Speed.
I was saddened to learn that Stephanie Niznik, who played one of the evil masterminds in the four-episode arch, died in 2020 from kidney failure.
Ayre Gross should have won an Emmy for his performance as the very evil mastermind who wanted it all.
Also we are introduced to BBQ Bob's, a restaurant that Jesse Steve Sloan co-own, with Mark as a silent partner.
