The gas jockey, Ralph Moody, recognizes the escapee and puts a call through to the Police. Gordon spots the play and puts a .45 round into his back.
Detectives Lee Farr and Russell Thorson are soon on the case. All the roads etc out of the city are covered. The Police assume that Gordon has gone to ground, but where? They check out his old haunts and come up with a possible hideout Gordon might try for. A woman Gordon used to see back in the past, Claire Carlton, seems the likely spot to stake out. Sure enough, Gordon appears and heads for Carleton's rooms. Inside waiting, is a half dozen cops with drawn weapons.
The plan however goes amiss when a passing off duty cop spots Gordon on the street, and goes for him. This results in shots being fired and Gordon beating the feet into a local school. He grabs the school cleaning woman as a hostage. "Back off or I kill her!" Gordon shouts.
Captain of Detectives Robert Taylor now shows and the Police must decide on how to save the hostage. Needless to say, a plan is hatched and the woman is retrieved unhurt. Gordon is cuffed for a date with the judge. With the new charges, it is death row beef for the swine.
