Before Frank Sutton became Sgt. Carter on Gomer Pyle USMC - Sutton plays Diamond Field Jack Davis. He is a man who wants to become a legendary gunfighter even though he has never shot anyone. He gets accused of a murder he is innocent of but is so hung up on his image that he will not let his lawyer defend him and he is found guilty.
The lawyer played by an actor named Edward Binns (James Hawley) who looks suspiciously like a twin for Simon Oakland, tries to get him to change his mind. Then he goes after the true murderer and catches him only to start digging his own grave. It seems that the murderer got the drop on him. Eventually his clerk gets wise and comes out to help save his boss.
