An early appearance by Robert Shaw and a future Dr. Who
planktonrules21 November 2013
The episode begins with Tony (Robert Shaw) having an auto accident and he's assumed to be dead. John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is sent to investigate--and it's assumed the gunrunner's Tony was investigating were behind his death. Along the way, he gets Tony's fiancée (Beverly Garland) to assist him. But the local police is made up of thugs bent on arresting Drake no matter what he does--and they try hard to provoke him. Ultimately, however, the joke's on them when they learn what's REALLY happening.

This is an interesting episode but it's more interesting for who's in the show. A very young Robert Shaw, Patrick Troughton (a future Dr. Who) and Beverly Garland (who has done a bazillion American TV shows including a regular spot on "My Three Sons"). Well worth seeing.

Drake heads to Sicily - again

Warning: Spoilers
John Drake's Mission: Drake is off to Sicily to investigate the mysterious death of a fellow NATO operative.

Bury the Dead is a wonderful example of Danger Man at its finest. Ralph Smart's script in this episode is first-rate, with plenty of good dialogue, action, and suspense. The twist at the end is as good as I've seen. Very nice writing. The acting in Bury the Dead is also as good as I've seen. McGoohan was never better. His non-fight scene in the bar is brilliant. I also got a real kick out of seeing Beverly Garland. I've always considered her an underrated actress. Throw in a young Robert Shaw and future Dr. Who Patrick Troughton, and you've got a very strong cast. Overall, this is easily my favorite episode so far. Bury the Dead would make an excellent introduction to anyone unfamiliar with Danger Man. If this one doesn't get you interested in the series, then Danger Man is not for you. I'm giving this one a 9/10.

Some Familiar Faces

Patrick McGoohan... Robert Shaw... Beverly Garland... even Patrick Troughton... what a cast! Too bad the script is a bit lacking... Still, a decent episode where we get to hear McGoohan's American AND British accents (he was born in the US to Irish parents, but moved back to Ireland, then Britain when he was young).
