Captain Dan Tempest and his crew come across a woman seeking adventure and lost pirate's treasure.
The mystery woman is Mistress Higgins a schoolteacher and she has a fantastic tale for Captain Tempest. An island with buried pirate treasure she has discovered in a cave on an island.
She has seen it herself and has samples. Captain Tempest disbelieves the story, he is even suspicious of Mistress Higgins. She could be a spy from the treasury department.
Tempest even mocks her telling Mistress Higgins that pirates do not bury treasure.
Gaff Guernsay is convinced. He and Mistress Higgins sneak off on a boat to look for the cave. They encounter trouble.
Luckily Captain Tempest followed them after gleaning information from Mistress Higgins school class.
The treasure was hidden goods that were meant to be sent to England as exports after taxes was paid on them. The bad guys kept it.
It was a mildly diverting and lightly amusing episode. Most of it does not really make sense.
