GOOFY IS AS GOOFY DOES, AND WITH FROGS?
tcchelsey30 July 2023
Growing up with the BEVERLY HILLBILLIES back in the day was a trip. They were insane, except for Uncle Jed, and all the mis- misadventures. This one is a continuation about frogs --yes real frogs-- which has been misinterpreted (again) by Granny. Mark Templeton, the handsome navy man who is dating Ellie May, is a deep sea diver and "frogman", so Granny thinks he's into frogs!

Of course, there's a money angle, but this time legally, as Jed is actually interested in investing (oh, say about 50 million!) in the underwater government project, though he kind of believes it also has to do with frogs? Needless to say, money mad Mr. Drysdale goes nuts.

Two interesting footnotes. Raymond Bailey, who played banker Mr. Drysdale actually began his career as a banker. He began acting in bit parts in the 1930s and eventually became an enormously popular actor, especially liked by Alfred Hitchcock for his tv show. Also featured is all around character actor Richard Deacon (DICK VAN DYKE SHOW) playing a doctor with a terrible toupee! He looked better without the darn thing, which was his trademark. This had to be a gag scene.

Always, watch Granny, the champion scene stealer! A salute to the great Irene Ryan.
