We've All Been There
Hitchcoc25 December 2019
This is a simple story. Opie is ready to go to his class party until he realizes it is a dance. He decides not to go because he can't dance. Andy won't make him but quickly realizes that this is the easy way out. That he is just feeding his fears of the unknown. It is a precious little episode with Ronnie Howard doing a nice job.

Floyd must be 100 years old
wheeling5009 April 2022
He remembers how Andy wasn't good at dancing too. What is Floyd, about 100 years old? Seems he remembers everything that Andy did as a kid. Floyd can only think of old dance music, not the new dances of 1966. Andy is doing the best he can as a dad and getting Opie to go to the dance.

Worth It For Helen Crump Dancer!
AudioFileZ8 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is a pretty good episode. I think everyone during those tender years of adolescence has moments of fear and doubt regarding the transition from the all boys club to wanting to have girl friends and vice versa. The first school dance is almost a pinnacle of this...if not a kind of rite of passage. Opie is at this crossroads. To promote better socialization between the girls and the boys the school party will be a dance party. Opie, fearing his lack of being able to dance, goes from being thrilled about the party to not even wanting to attend. Andy realizes this and some sweet, and, yes funny, lessons with Aunt Bee give Opie just enough bravado to attend. This is where for me something classic, and quite unexpected. Happens. We get to see Andy dancing and it's a TV classic dance happening along the line of Elaine Bennes in Seinfeld about 25-years later. The unexpected however is Helen Crump letting her hair down (figuratively) and dancing a version of The Jerk. Didn't see that one coming...hipster Helen.

Terrific Opie episode
vitoscotti20 July 2022
Lots of laughs. Busybodies Floyd & Goober (who's never working) analysis of Opie's upcoming dance like it's man walking on the moon important stirs up Andy. Some solid serious acting from Ron Howard. Cute Aunt Bee scenes teaching Opie to dance. One of my favorite TAGS exchangers. Bee asks, "Floyd you listen to radio music?" Floyd responds, "Yes,... soothing,,, very soothing". I remember radio music stations borrowing that clip. Andy Griffith displays his comedic country bumpkin clodhopper dancing ability which is up there with Jim Nabors & George Lindsey's funny dancing. Real pretty scenes of Helen (Aneta Corsaut) dancing. Funny when Opie gets the courage to ask Sharon Porter (Rhonda Jeter) he reaches for her hands to dance old-fogie style. We're getting a lot of shots of the white building (above the Taylor's garage) across the street from the studio lot in the color episodes.

The big surprise here is Helen Crump doing the Watusi or whatever it was supposed to be. I really got a kick out of it. Andy just sort of shakes around. Go Helen Go !!

We were all afraid of this !

Another very entertaining episode about real life. Opie's afraid of something that we all were, and Andy tries to encourage him until he himself has to face up to Opie's fears. One of Andy's funniest scenes in the entire series !

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
cartermr464 November 2018
I always ABSOLUTELY LOVED The Andy Griffith Show, with Andy Griffith {Sheriff Andy Taylor}, Don Knotts {Deputy Barney Fife}, Ron Howard {Opie Taylor}, Francis Bavier (Aunt Bea}, and their various adventures/misadventures! I surely miss watching the show every week on TV. I'm very pleased that I have been able to discover its whereabouts online, and relive all the laughter and enjoyment when I used to watch it every week as a kid.
