A picture not quite up to Vitagraph standard in either story or acting, although the players themselves are pleasing. This is the first time we have noticed Jane Novak in pictures. She is too young to be experienced, especially in sorrow, but has an engaging smile. The story is of the sea is not fresh or dramatic, or convincing, but has a few excellent sea pictures, Robert Thornby is both author and director. - The Moving Picture World, February 7, 1914
