While London's burning surely one to watch
trashgang10 August 2011
I have already seen some flicks made by Sibley and what I came aware of was the fact that my review ended with, give that man some money, he has the abilities to make a good flick. Shopner Desh is such a flick. It is still low budget but with the money he's been dreaming of. Nowadays that London's Burning (was The Clash right?)and other cities are following it is one to see. For us it's not that easy to understand the riots going on at the moment. It can happen here in Belgium too but we don't really have those pauper places were people are left on their own. Of course we have troubles too but what we see now in the UK is that places like Croydon or other suburbs do have activity in daylight but at night all the commuters are going home and those places are becoming dangerous, I have visit down-town LA, same trouble over there. So the people living there don't really have any money and are left alone by the politicians. The thing that happens is that they are loners and are going into issues like robbery, drugs and theft. It's sad, but that's how it is, how to solve it I don't know and that brings me back to this flick. Here you can see what is happening when you don't have a common look. If you are a stranger to the country you better learn the language and hope that it all works out right but it doesn't of course. Here we see the Bangladesh families trying to give their children a proper Muslim life. But for so many Muslim means a threat to society, so here we are, the children trying to get away from traditions and are mostly banned from the family, no money, no future. That's what this is all about. It's all filmed very well and edited very nicely. I do recommend it to the Brits to watch it especially nowadays. It's a lesson how live really is in the suburbs. For those not common with the upper north dialect it's again hard to understand and the Bangladesh language doesn't make it easier. Funny to see Ken Mood again, this time not as Axel Falcon but as a drunk. All the acting was okay, and the effect used (fighting, bloody faces, car smashed with body at the car dump)were also done properly. Well done Sibley, this proofed that I was right about you, if you have the money you can do it. A director to keep an eye on.
